I was surfing the internet today and I came across this brilliant article [1] about the benefits of running. The intro had me hooked “One 60-minute run can add 7 hours to your life”. Indeed, longevity is a worthy pursuit isn’t it? Moreover, there are many more reasons to run. Is it time for you to get your trainers on towards better ideas? Thank you to Christian Jarrett (@Psych_Writer) for this fantastic article.
Getting Your Trainers On Also Benefits Your Mind
I’ve spent many hours in my trainers enjoying the psychological benefits that running brought me and the major physical high. Reading this reminded me that it’s been a while. Tomorrow morning I’ll be out there again and this article is enough to keep me motivated for much longer than a day.
In fact, many of us run because we feel the benefits of our mind becoming free the longer we run. However, this article [2] suggests that “The mental benefits don’t stop when you finish your run — regular cardiovascular exercise can spark growth of new blood vessels to nourish the brain. Exercise may also produce new brain cells in certain locations through a process called neurogenesis, which may lead to an overall improvement in brain performance and prevent cognitive decline.”
I urge you to get your trainers on and run your way to better health, less stress and more brain stimulation. What’s more – get your friends, family and children out there too.
Run Forrest run!!
