Time Line Therapy® And Emotional Release

Time Line Therapy® and emotional release therapy is a powerful healing technique that uses time-tested processes to help people move through their emotional pain and suffering. Through this process, individuals can release old traumas, fears, and beliefs and create space for new possibilities in their lives.

Time Line Therapy® Offers A Powerful Emotional Release For Clients

Working with an emotional release therapist using Time Line Therapy® is a powerful and liberating experience. Sometimes the shift is obvious and we feel the immediate energetic change. Other times it can be more subtle. There are many techniques out there to support us in releasing emotions. Each technique is delivered (and works) in a slightly different way.

Surprisingly, Time Line Therapy® is not as well-known as some of its counterparts. Time Line Therapy® (TLT) is one of the many techniques used by Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Coaches to help clients reframe their mindset quickly. Specifically, Time Line Therapy® is used to release negative emotions and beliefs that limit the use of our internal resources. In addition, Time Line Therapy® can be used for regression, phobia release, anxiety and physical healing.

What Is So Important About Emotional Release?

Have you ever had an emotional reaction that was totally disproportionate to the situation itself? Perhaps you’ve felt frustrated for some time, and then something minute happens and you unleash hell. Truly, it’s happened to every one of us.

Actually, we often overreact because our emotional bucket is full. Saying that, have you noticed how much better you feel after an extreme emotional reaction? Maybe you have a good cry or you have an angry outburst and then you feel calmer or more balanced afterwards.

In fact, we feel better because our emotions are energy, and behave as such. That is to say, when energy builds up in a closed environment, we have to find some way of letting that energy out. Hence, we create the opportunity for an emotional outburst or a significant emotional event. Effectively, we empty our emotional bucket.

However, we all know that having an angry outburst or being over-emotional in some situations can create feelings of shame, regret or guilt. Therefore, the major benefit of Time Line Therapy® and emotional release is that it opens the release valve on your emotional energy so you release it at your pace.

Clearly, this is more comfortable than living through the repercussions of an emotional outburst!

What is Time Line Therapy®?

Time Line Therapy® And Emotional Release

Time Line Therapy® is a hypnotic technique designed to induce a light trance in the client. Think of how your mind operates when you’re having a shower. Namely, you’re washing yourself and your hair on autopilot and so your mind is free to wander. In fact, you may have some of your brightest ideas when showering!

Essentially, this is the type of trance I’m describing. The purpose of this light trance is to allow you to be aware of all your current resources while visiting events in the future or the past from a dissociated perspective.

Time Line Therapy® uses a person’s own internal “Time Line” as a map to uncover problematic events in their past memories. The client can then use a broader perspective of the event to ‘reframe’ their belief system and release any emotional build up. This process works with the unconscious mind in a variety of ways. The tools support healing emotional traumas and eradicating unwanted thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

Time Line Therapy® has been so successfully used by thousands of people since the mid-1980s. Those people include business coaches, sports coaches, psychiatrists, psychologists, marriage and family counsellors, social workers, life coaches and NLP coaches.

Moreover, many clients love working with Time Line Therapy® because they don’t need to share the content of the memory with the practitioner. Indeed, the client can still benefit from emotional release and maintain privacy early on in the coaching relationship, if that feels more comfortable.

What Is A Time Line?

Think of something that happened in the past. You may not be aware of the ‘place’ you retrieved that idea from. Your “Time Line” is how you unconsciously store your memories or how you unconsciously know the difference between a memory from the past and a projection of the future.

How Does The Technique Work With An Emotional Release Therapist?

Behavioural change in an individual takes place at an unconscious level. People don’t change consciously. Time Line Therapy® techniques allow you to work at the unconscious level and release the effects of past negative experiences and change “inappropriate” programming rapidly. An emotional release therapist working with Time Line Therapy® guide the client through their journey to gain learning that can re-frame perspective and release limitation.

Who Developed Time Line Therapy®?

The Time Line Therapy® process was created by Tad James in the 1980s. In fact, the techniques are used by most ABNLP Certified Trainers and Practitioners. Using these tools, the client can release negative emotions, eliminate limiting decisions, free themselves from anxiety and build a positive emotional foundation.

If you’re a Time Line Therapy® Practitioner or NLP Practitioner, Time Line Therapy® offers you a replacement technique for anchoring, which can be time-consuming. In addition, Time Line Therapy® offers a replacement for Prime Concerns conversational shift, which we learn at the NLP Master Practitioner Level.

Time Line Therapy® And The Basis Of Personality - A Complete Guide to Time Line Therapy®

Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality is a compelling study of the important elements that make up a person’s core personality. It contains a detailed exploration of how Time Line Therapy® works in practice. This book was written by Tad James and Wyatt Woodsmall in 1988.

The book discusses how to use Time Line Therapy® techniques correctly. In addition, it explores values, meta programmes and the logical levels of experience.  I can highly recommend it!
